Help us fight human trafficking

The video you are about to watch is based on a true story. The names have been changed, but the details are taken from the reality of many migrants in Israel. Alongside many cases of families who respect and honor their nursing staff and caregivers, there is also a different and painful reality. Sadly, nursing staff and foreign caregivers can fall victim to exploitative and abusive employment. Only in 2006, thanks to our collaboration with Kav LaOved, were we able to make the labor in conditions of slavery a criminal offense in the State of Israel.

We ask you to keep an eye out, heed the warning signs, and help us fight this horrifying phenomenon. Social isolation, withholding a passport, non-stop work, and not paying wages: all can be warning signs of human trafficking and employment in conditions of slavery. It is better to raise a false alarm than to overlook a victim.

We would like to thank Jonathan Perry and Yuval Gilat who created the video as part of the “This State I Am: Design for Social Change” course under the guidance of Ruth Cantor and Spring Elhasid, as part of their studies in the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem.
