Some of them were also held in slavery-like conditions<br \/>\nand trafficked between various smugglers. Members of the group described what they went<br \/>\nthrough in interviews upon entrance to Israel and in Detention Review Tribunal hearings.<br \/>\nDespite numerous meetings with Israeli authorities, the state never recognized this group as<br \/>\nvictims of human trafficking and never referred to the torture they underwent.
